Industrial work has less room for error than almost anything else we do. A line that stays down an extra shift costs real money, and the voltages and fault currents in a plant leave no margin for sloppy habits. As an industrial electrician in Kitchener, Einwechter Electric works with plant managers, maintenance supervisors and owners in manufacturing and warehousing across Waterloo Region.

We are a licensed electrical contractor, family-owned and run by Jason and Wendy Einwechter. These are the industrial services we offer.

Machine and equipment relocation

Moving a press, a CNC machine, a compressor or a conveyor is a three-part job on the electrical side. First we isolate and disconnect it safely, label every conductor and make the old supply point safe. Then, once the riggers have it in place, we run the new feed, reconnect, verify rotation on three-phase motors and test with your operators before handing it back. Planning the new location’s power early, before the floor layout is final, avoids surprises. We check the nameplate voltage and full-load current against what the new spot can supply, confirm a disconnect will sit where the operator can see and reach it, and size new cable for the actual run rather than the old one.

Control panel wiring

We wire control panels for machinery and processes: motor starters and drives, relays, PLC inputs and outputs, safety circuits and the field wiring that runs back to sensors and actuators. Tidy, numbered, documented wiring is what lets your maintenance staff troubleshoot in the middle of a night shift without calling anyone. When we modify an existing panel, we mark up the drawings so they match what is actually inside the cabinet.

Custom electrical panel building

When an off-the-shelf enclosure won’t do, we build one. We lay out the back panel, mount the components, wire it and test it before it goes on site. Electrical equipment used in Ontario has to be approved, so we build with certified components and arrange the required approval or field evaluation where a panel needs one.

Laser engraving of labels and tags

Clear labelling is a safety system in its own right. We laser-engrave nameplates, disconnect tags, panel directories and equipment identifiers in-house, so the labels on a new panel match the drawings and the ones already on your floor. It also means a replacement tag is a quick job rather than a special order.

Equipment and safety signage

Arc flash and shock hazard warnings, voltage markings, lockout point identification and equipment signage tell workers what they are standing in front of. We supply and install it as part of a project, or as a stand-alone update when a plant has added equipment faster than it has updated its labels.

LED retrofits

Old metal halide and high-output fluorescent high-bays are expensive to run and slow to restrike after a power blip. LED high-bays with occupancy sensors light a warehouse aisle only when a forklift is in it. Our page on LED lighting retrofits explains how we plan one, and our bucket truck handles the yard and building-mounted lights outside.

Sectors we serve

  • Manufacturing: fabrication, machining, plastics and assembly plants.
  • Warehousing and logistics: distribution centres, cross-docks and racking-heavy buildings.
  • Food processing: washdown areas where enclosures and fittings must suit the environment.
  • Automotive: parts suppliers and the equipment that feeds assembly lines.
  • Pharmaceutical: controlled spaces where change has to be documented.
  • Aerospace and defence: precision shops with strict quality and access requirements.

How we run an industrial job

Plants have their own procedures, and we follow them. Every project starts with a walk of the area with your maintenance lead, a look at the single-line drawings if they exist, and a conversation about when production can spare the equipment.

  1. Site visit and scoping: equipment, available capacity at the distribution, cable routes and access.
  2. Quote and schedule: a written scope with the shutdown windows we need, agreed before anything is ordered.
  3. ESA notification: filed under our contractor licence, so the work is on record and inspected.
  4. Installation: lockout and isolation by the book, permits to work where your site uses them, and daily check-ins with your contact.
  5. Inspection and start-up: ESA reviews the installation; we test, commission and walk your operators through anything new.
  6. Cleanup and documentation: the area left clean, labels in place and updated drawings or notes handed over.

Questions people ask

Can you relocate equipment over a weekend shutdown?

Weekend and shutdown work can be arranged by appointment when the job calls for it. We agree the window with you in advance, prepare the new supply beforehand, and keep the disconnect-to-reconnect time as short as we can.

Do custom control panels need CSA approval in Ontario?

Electrical equipment used in Ontario must be approved, either through a certification mark or a field evaluation by an accredited body. We build with certified components and arrange the approval route the panel needs before it is energized.

Can you match our existing labelling standard?

Yes. Because we laser-engrave tags and nameplates ourselves, we can match the colours, sizes and wording format already used in your plant, and supply replacements for damaged or missing labels.

Do you work with our in-house maintenance team?

Often. Many plants keep their own maintenance staff and bring us in for larger projects, panel builds, moves and anything that needs an ESA notification. We share drawings and notes so your team can support the work afterwards.
